MEET YOUR DOULAS


Alaina McElmeel

A nurturer at heart, Alaina has been serving families in her community since 2009. She found her calling in birth work and loves providing unconditional, compassionate support to her clients and helping them feel empowered in their journey.

Alaina trained with ProDoula as a Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Postpartum Placenta Specialist. A self-proclaimed master researcher, she brings a well-rounded expertise to new families. She understands that each woman and family’s experience is unique and she is proud to hold the space for those looking to find their own way.

She enjoys continuing her education through various seminars and workshops and is currently enrolled in Midwifery school through Living Tree College of Midwifery. Her other interests include gardening, nature exploration, reading, and storytelling.

Alaina gave birth to her daughter at home and hopes to grow her family in the near future. She resides in Coralville with her partner, daughter, and their tiny cat.


Morgan Terrell

Caring and providing for others has been the center of Morgan’s career for the past 10 years. She can easily recognize when one is uncomfortable and understands how to support someone in need. Anyone who finds themselves in her presence feels relaxed to open up to her and trusts Morgan will offer a listening ear.

Morgan has always been drawn to the labor and birth experience. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to support families and individuals who seek their own experience. Morgan prides herself on the non-judgemental support she so naturally offers to her clients.

Morgan understands that her ability to physically and emotionally support in a variety of birth circumstances is what benefits the birthing person. She is prepared to lend a helping hand from pregnancy and beyond.

She lives in Iowa City with her husband and two children. Morgan enjoys stamping and card making when she’s not serving families, as well as sharing quality time with the people she loves.

Heather Connolly, HBCE

Compassionate at her core, Heather has been assisting expecting families since 2014. First becoming certified in HypnoBirthing Childbirth Education: The Mongan Method, Heather has encouraged families from the beginning to research their options for birth and often says, “If you don’t know your options, then you have no options”.

Heather has completed Doula Trainings with the HypnoBirthing Institute as well as ProDoula. She knows that each family has their own image of an ideal birth and will be able to support you in figuring out which options are best for your birth. Heather is ecstatic to guide you through your personal journey.

Heather lives in a small town in Northeast Iowa with her husband, her two daughters, and their fur babies. She takes pleasure in summer days spent outside, reading, fitness and healthy living. Heather is a social butterfly who loves meeting, talking and learning new things from people and families in every stage of their lives.
